Maddox Street
A classic Regency stripe motif discovered in the oldest surviving terraced house in Maddox Street, Mayfair, built around 1715. The wallpaper was found in the front room of the second floor. This was probably used as a bedroom. It was the oldest wallpaper in a 'sandwich' of no less than 17 layers and is dated to around 1810, possibly even earlier.
