Brodsworth

A vibrant, captivating design featuring eye-catching birds and delicate floral motifs. The slightly raised pattern with richly gilded details was originally intended to imitate stamped leather in appearance. Based on early 18th-century French fabrics and decor, the wallpaper with fields, scrolls and crosshatching was found at Brodsworth Hall in South Yorkshire. This elegant Victorian mansion was built between 1861 and 1863. It was privately owned until 1990 and served as a residential building. It was then taken over and restored. The wallpaper was clearly popular with the family; Unusually, it was used in the opposite color combination in both the library and the breakfast room and can still be seen there today.
